Class description:
Open to ages 5 - 15, students will learn basic woodworking techniques using hand tools only, including drilling, setting screws, using clamps, hammering, and incising. Choose from one of our two class options below:
1) Week-long Workshop: M-F April 6-10, 10:30 am - 11:30 am
In these one-hour classes, students will learn a new woodworking technique each day, building upon their experience over the course of the week. Students must be present Monday-Friday.
On Wednesday, April 8, and Friday, April 10, the Gamble House will offer short, guided tours of the house directly after the end of class (11:30 am-12:15 pm). Tours are open to all workshop participants and their caregivers.
2) Single Session Workshops: April 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12:00-2:00 pm
In this two-hour class, students will be introduced to basic woodworking techniques and have time to complete one simple project. The same curriculum will be taught each day. Please choose only one of the days to attend to have enough capacity for everyone.
The Gamble House will offer short, guided tours of the house directly after the end of each class (2:00-3:00 pm). Tours are open to all workshop participants and their caregivers.
The 2026 Spring Break Mobile Woodworking Class is made possible through a generous grant from the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s National Trust Preservation Fund.
