Mobility Archived Open Call
Side Street Projects (SSP) is requesting proposals for our Spring 2020 Artist-in-Residence program titled Mobility Archived. Side Street Projects offers a one-month residency for two artists to host workshops and develop a site-specific, community-engaged art project around the theme of Mobility Archived. This project will culminate in an exhibition at the end of the residency. The Mobility Archived residency will take place between February 2020 and May 2020.
We invite the artists-in-residence to explore twenty-seven years worth of ephemera from Side Street Projects’ archive to use as source materials and be a home for reflection. This project asks artists to engage with mobility as it relates to the movement of body, cultures, and histories. Mobility as diaspora. Mobility as immigration. Mobility as a source of regeneration and agency. Mobility as home.
A Residency Information Session will be held on October 5, 2019, at 11am at SSP Mobile HQ. All participants will be assisted in writing and organizing their Mobility Archived residency proposal. This is also an opportunity to scope Side Street Projects’ archive, meet SSP staff, and see SSP’s site.
Side Street Projects will award two artists/collectives an honorarium of $1250 and a materials budget (for workshops and project) of $500.
Please apply via the online application OR email proposals to firstname.lastname@example.org by October 31, 2019, at 12am PST. There is no fee to apply.
