| Daniel Joseph Martinez is an artist and educator who lives and works on the West Bank of the Los Angeles River. Daniel's work has been shown in the 2000 COLA Award Exhibition at the UCLA Hammer Museum, the 1993 Whitney Museum of American Art Biennial, and recent solo exhibitions at The Project in Harlem, and Orchard Gallery in Derry, North Ireland. Recent projects include editing an anthology of essays on anarchy and radical beauty, curating the United States participation in America Foto Latina at the Universidad De Guadalajara, Mexico and co-founding Deep River Gallery in downtown Los Angeles. Daniel has received individual artist fellowships from the Flintridge Foundation, the J. Paul Getty Trust, the National Endowment for the Arts, Art Matters, and the California Arts Council. Other grants and awards have come from the Norton Family Foundation, the City of Los Angeles, and the University of California, Irvine, where Daniel has taught since 1992.
